There are several achievements I believe I encountered during the preparation of this task:
- A greater understanding of APA guidelines in terms of levels of headings, format, and the paper's organization. Which I consider a key and valuable part to become a teacher-researcher next term.
- The design that we chose must be clear, concise, and supported by theory. While we were planning the research design, we first thought of applying a mixed methods investigation; we even consulted our tutor on the matter, and she recommended focusing on a qualitative design as it is customary in social studies. Nevertheless, as 'rookie researchers', we kept with the initial idea and included it in our task 4. After the professor's feedback, we recognized that it would be better to carry out a qualitative exploratory classroom-based design focusing only on identifying recurring themes related to participation, engagement, and learners’ perceptions of multisensory instruction. Not trying to prove retention anymore.
- I value the tutor's guidance more. Before the task submission, we had a virtual session where Veronica explained in great detail what was expected for each section of the methods section. As a developing researcher, that meeting was a cornerstone; without it, I cannot imagine what our work would have been.
Even though the task left many pros, as a team, we felt deeply disappointed after reading the tutor's feedback; it was not easy to see that the work you had worked so hard on would get such a low score. Leaving us a bit downcast for the next submissions.
